How to Learn Through Listening

How do you learn a language by listening?

You probably started to learn English where you had to first match words to pictures. Then you had to put words in the correct order to make sentences.
Before you knew it you were having to create your sentences.
Teachers were probably giving you exercise to do at home.
Then they took your work and put ticks and crosses all over it.

Those little ticks and crosses represented our learning.

Do you think that’s a good way to decide if a person is learning a language?

We don’t!

Go back to basics – why do people learn a language?
We learn our first and every other language for only one reason; to communicate.

Just like when you learnt your first language you first acquired the most essential words for your life. These are the words that allow you to share the most important things with the most important people.

My eldest sons first word was ‘duck’, probably because we spent so much time in the park and he was always looking for ducks to feed. Ducks were important to him. My second son’s first word was his brother’s name. His brother was the centre of his world. He chased him, watched him, just always wanted to be with him.

They learned what was important to them. It is an instinct to use words and sounds to communicate. They were never taught their first words. They were never taught their words ‘duck’ and ‘Joe’. They heard them in conversation and situations and they found those words and gave them meaning in their heads. Once they could associate what they wanted to say with a word then they could use it.

Our system is broken down into sections so you can find the sections that you want to talk about.
There is no order. Just pick what you find interesting. Listen to the audio, just a child listens to their parents. Copy what you hear, just a child does, don’t read it, listen and repeat.

The transcripts are there to help you with understanding. We want you to learn as quickly as possible, and unlike a child, you have the advantage of being able to read, so you can short cut the process.

You don’t have to do this, you can learn one hundred percent through listening.

Think how quickly children learn to speak, now imagine how fast you can learn with this system.

After all, you know it works because you already speak one language. If you have succeeded before of course, you can succeed again, especially with all the extra help.

Our system is based on everything we know about how language is naturally acquired and then it is turbocharged by using your native language.
